Today's little adventure

Got to work after my normal battle with London's underfunded, creaking public transport system.

Lift arrived, in I got with three other people. Off we went.

Jolt!

Bang!

"Eeeep!"

"Lift out of service!" quoth the rather bossy voice of the lift.

We all looked at each other.

"Ooo-errr."

Doors opened. Out we fell, uttering cries of alarm and dismay.

"A building site. How delightful." I commented, clutching my coffee for all I was worth.

"Excuse me Mr Builder, how do we get out?"

He showed us through to the next bank of lifts, I said "we can get the lift up to the eighth floor, it's one of the floors where the high-rise and low-rise banks intersect."

Except they don't any more. The lifts are there, but the buttons have been disabled, so you can't call them.

Down we went to the ground floor.

Out we got, and into the high-rise lifts.

"Sorry I'm late, I got stuck in the lift!"

I hate our building management company with a passion they can only dream about.
