I discovered an unexpected side-effect of having freezer full of food today. I got to the checkouts at my local supermarket, having spent 10 minutes or so whizzing round picking up the things for dinner this evening. They had half the checkouts open, and instead of putting more people on the tills, the supermarket were standing people in the checkout queues to tell their paying customers that the checkout they had chosen was closing for the evening. Anyway, it came in handy for me, because I was able to hand said employee my basket of shopping with a cheery "well, you can put all this back on the shelves then, can't you?" and walk out with my nose in the air without fearing imminent starvation.
And I had the most amazing ego boost today. I've been steadily losing weight and it has come to the point that I really do have very little to wear, because most of it's too big. I spent this weekend just gone going through my wardrobe, throwing out all my "fat t-shirts," and generally having a sorting-out.
After several "those trousers look ridiculous" conversations today, I went into a clothes shop on my way home and picked a couple of skirts off the rack and went in to try them on. Came out of the changing room to look in the mirror and the shop assistant immediately said "oh, that's far too big, I'll get you the next size down."
The reason I have spent the last few weeks with the sneaking suspicion that my size 14 trousers are about to fall down around my ankles is because I'm actually a size 10.
