The fun to be had in electrical showrooms

Blimey, washing machines are complicated these days. Many twiddly things to twiddle and buttons to press and things that light up and go "twing!"

I swear, I spent ten minutes staring at one thinking "how do I get the door open?" Turns out that instead of it being like every single other washing machine I've ever encountered in my 20 years or so of doing laundry (Rosamummy started us young, she's a terrible slave-driver), it doesn't have a catch on the door that you yank open with one hand whilst trying to avoid dropping all your socks on the floor, it has a button you have to press, and it's cunningly hidden in among all the other buttons and not labelled with anything helpful like a big red ON or anything. And I cannot in my life imagine spending a thousand pounds on a washing machine, unless it also did the ironing, washed the dishes and cooked my dinner as well. Especially not one with an annoying door.
