On Friday I am wending my merry way to New York via Montreal (the reasons for not taking a direct flight are many and varied and include Air Miles, best laid plans ganging agley, as they do, Air Miles, Beloved Aunties getting promoted to Extremely Important Person and having to move country, and, um, Air Miles).
I have a week in New York, then a week and a bit in Montreal making Milanese lace, then I come home.
I have to fit a 17" diameter polystyrene lace pillow into a 16" wide suitcase, and then entrust it to the tender mercies of Air Canada baggage handlers. Going out won't be so bad, because the pillow will be empty of lace, but coming back, I'd better hope I get the piece finished before I leave Canada...
Alternatively, I wonder if aforementioned lace pillow will fit in my backpack, because if it does, I can carry it with me, stick it in the overhead luggage bins, and check a much smaller case with my clothes and stuff.
