For those, like me, for whom the thought of anything resembling food first thing in the morning is enough to make you crawl back under the duvet and stay there until lunch time, I present:

The Yummy Oaty Fruity Smoothie Breakfast Thing (the title needs work, though, I feel)

Serves 1

3/4 cup milk
1/4 level cup oats
1 banana
2 tbsp live yoghurt
A generous 1/4 cup frozen mixed fruit (you can buy this by the bag in Sainsbury's, and presumably other supermarkets as well)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Honey to taste

Put all ingredients into a blender. Whiz until smooth and evenly blended - check there aren't any un-blended lumps of oats lurking lurkily at the bottom of the blender goblet. Pour into glass. Drink. Waltz off to work smug in the knowledge that you've had two portions of your 5 a day, fibre and slow-release carbs from the oats, calcium and vitamin D from the milk. Don't drink it too quickly, though, cos you'll get an ice-cream headache.

I don't normally have breakfast, because I normally wake up far too early to even contemplate eating something (coffee so strong you can practically chew it doesn't count as food, apparently), with the result that I'm normally ravenous by lunch time. But so far, after having one of these, I'm fine. And cheaper than paying £2 or whatever to Innocent. Yummy as their smoothies are, it gets a bit pricey if you have one every day!

For those people sitting there thinking "what are these 'cups' of which she speaks?" one cup is 236ml, so 1/4 cup is 59ml, or four 15ml tablespoons.
