How to make life really really complicated...

So, the storage heater (Rosamundi Towers' sole source of heating, apart from a couple of convection heaters), packed up a couple of months ago. Got a quote from a friend who happens to be a qualified electrician to come and fit a couple of new ones - £600 or so.

My landlord (who is also my father, which is why he's not doing this himself), said "get a quote for getting gas in as well, and we'll put proper central heating in, loft insulation, etc."

You would not believe how complicated it is:

Go to Transco's website, dowload forms, helpful guidance notes, etc, complete forms, post forms back to Transco, await arrival of quote. Send off payment if quote is acceptable, they wait until payment clears and then come and do the pipework. I am not sure if you actually get to pick the time they arrive.

I then have to contact a gas supply company, who will come and fit the meter.

I then have to contact someone else entirely to get them to come do a quote for installing central heating. It's possible that British Gas will be able to do that at the same time as they fit the meter, but I'm not holding my breath.
