Be careful what you pray for

I mentioned in Confession last night that I found this "patience" lark rather hard going. The priest said as part of my penance I should pray for patience.

Today, I found myself at Kings Cross, en route to Kew Gardens with one of my best friends, her husband, who uses an electric scooter/wheelchair to get around and their small son, who was in a buggy. We were using London Underground, and the District Line was partly broken.

It was incredibly hard work, and all that I had to do most of the day was (a) find lifts, help get the scooter on the Tube (c) pull faces at the baby.

Tube stations that claim to be disabled accessible but have a drop to get from the train to the platform (or a step up, if going the other way). Lifts hidden out of sight. Pavements that don't have a dropped kerb for miles.

And then the District Line broke completely as we were trying to get home. It's enough to drive you to drink.
