Problems occur, and it's how you deal with them that matter. Viz:

1) PC World/Business Post: They messed up, and seem to be running some sort of competition to see who will be first to send me, wild of eye and frothing of mouth, to the local Secure Home for the Dangerously and Incurably Barking. I have told everyone of my acquaintance that they are rubbish, I have left negative feedback on the bizrates website, and written several blog posts saying how awful they are. Oh look, here's another one.

2) Ocado: They were supposed to deliver me some groceries on Saturday. I received an e-mail on Saturday morning which was variations on a theme of “Woe! It's not going to happen, here's a £25 voucher.” I placed a new order, which came yesterday, and I was scanning the receipt and thought “even with £25 off, this looks awfully cheap.” Looked closer at the receipt, and they have not charged me for the bottle of gin I ordered “due to problems with your last order.” Mmm. Free gin.

3) Hipknits: I'm to keep what she sent me by mistake and the correct order is on its way to me. So far there is a blog post and a post on the Ship saying how fantastic this company is, and I've told a couple of people at work and various and sundry friends about how helpful they are, and I'm 500m of recycled sari silk to the good. Huzzah. However, I now have shiny new project paralysis. Woe, etc.

At this rate, going on the “free gin and knitting yarn” scale of compensation, PC World and Business Post between them owe me the annual output of an entire distillery and a flock of cashmere goats.
