the pumpkin bread birthday cake was a huge hit - should have taken a photo for you dear readers! Alas...it was quickly eaten. But the b-day girl was surprised (we had a 'fake party' in the morning...with rice krispy treats... and then a surprise party in the afternoon with the pumpkin cake)
and... i wanted to get her something that was functional... you know, something that had her name written all over it. Know what I did? Bought some rubbermaid plastic containers and decorated each lid & container with her name, initials, and some pretty designs. Ha! she said "aeoik, that's very witty!"
my father's open heart surgery is sometime this morning... my sister went back home to be with Mom & Dad (incidently, it's mom's birthday today...strange). So called last night to wish him good luck and say I was thinking about him today - he sounded upbeat, not sure if that was for my benefit or not... I'll keep you posted. The surgery might last 3 - 4 hours, and not sure when they're starting, so... told Mom I'd call in the afternoon to check in.
definately need to go - this is a lovely time warp, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with you all this morning... next time I'll make a cup of tea and we'll have biscuits (or pumpkin bread, depending on whether or not i can borrow a cup of sugar from the neighbour downstairs...)
