a lot of my friends in college were gay - i bought a book entitled Can Homophobia Be Cured? to help me navigate what I learned in church growing up, and loving & accepting my friends who were gay. Tough territory to navigate at any age, especially when damnation is preached from the pulpit (love the sinner, hate the 'sin') and you're just trying to figure the world out in general.
I was disheartened when visiting a Christian bookstore recently - there was a whole section of books, written by people who feel justified in judging - and using Scripture as a weapon against people who are gay.
i saw this movie/documentary today...and it was so well done - i needed to share.

our society and culture are so wrapped up in prejudice - labeling and excluding groups of people - women, people of color, religious practices different than our own, people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered... this film was well made - and elevates the conversation re: religion and homosexuality to a completely different level.
i hope you'll make the time to see it.
