You can see on the second photo where the water has gone down quite a lot. There's a tide mark just below the window frame.
I 'rescued' a couple and their two year old who'd tried to get down the lane and their car had died. They'd left nursery (the same one Alien goes to) at 4.30, which is just under 2 miles away. I eventually dropped them off, having lent a pair of wellies and carried the 2 year old on my shoulders to get to my car, at about 8pm. Nightmareish.
