The Tornado (photo taken by Socks) When Socks suggested that we go on a steam train for a whole day, I agreed because I knew it was something he'd enjoy. After booking the tickets, I realised it was going to be about 7 hours on the train (in total), with 4 or 5 hours in Dartmouth, and I wasn't so convinced! http://www.a1steam.com/ tells you all about how the train was built, and about it being on Top Gear a few weeks ago! It was a totally brilliant day! We went with another couple and their 16 year old son. Alien was a complete star and was (surprisingly) well behaved on the train. A combination of the son's DS, comics and looking out the window kept her entertained on the way there. And we thought she'd sleep on the way back, but she didn't so the specially purchased portable DVD player came in very handy!! We left home at 7.45am and got back at 11pm and she didn't sleep at all during the day! The Tornado itself was amazing. The bit that stuck me most was its sheer size. It was huge!! The whole atmosphere on the train was great too. It was very friendly and relaxed, with everyone talking to each other. It was such an enjoyable day that we've all agreed that we might do it again some time!! Pants and Alien There's a couple more on my Flickr (and even more on my Facebook!)
