My dimness never ceases to amaze me

Tonight I left the house at 5.30 to get to church for 6.20ish. It takes me approximately 20 mins to get to church so I took a slight detour to do a cache.
The yello line is the detour I took.
The pale green line was meant to be the journey to get to church in time to operate the sound desk.
The pale blue line is the route I took because I'm rather dim and went completely the wrong way, ending up on a stretch of motorway with 40mph limit roadworks, and no exits.
I was rather cross with myself to say the least. And didn't make it to church at all in the end, so I just hope there was someone else around who was able to do the amp instead.
