I've just got back from blood doning.
The first time I went, I passed out. The second time I went I gave half a pint and stopped just in case, cos I felt a little woozy. Last time I went I was totally fine, did the full amount without passing out, feeling sick or anything.
This time I thought it might be the same. Not so. Despite having the local anesthetic in, I could still feel the needle, but did at least manage a full pint before passing out!!!
I couldn't give blood last time they asked cos I'd just had a tattoo, but they keep sending me letters and ringing and demanding my blood, so I agree.
I do wonder if it's more hassle than it's worth for them, this time they had to do 4 extra tests - one because I've had malaria, one because I'm on medication, one because I've had a tattoo in the last year and I'm not sure why the fourth one! I had the final appointment - at 7.15 because I couldn't go any earlier, and then I go and pass out too.
Mind you, I'll still go back again to give more, because they need it. And I have a slightly rare blood group. And one day I might need it too!!
