Chas and Jan have continued the discussion of the online community. Having read their entries, it made me think further about the whole community thing, and whether others, like me, seem to have lots of different 'lives' going on. Chas talks about work and church, and I'm always aware of the different areas of my life, which have only ever seemed to cross at things like the service of blessing for our wedding, and Aliens thanksgiving service.

I have different circles of friends and very few know others from other 'circles'. There's my 'old school' lot, who I went to school with, there's the 'musical' lot (all somehow linked to a choir I used to sing in), the 'online' people, the 'school I used to teach at' lot, a couple of Uni people, 'family', 'church' people, and then 'uncategorised' (these are the categories I have them in my address book in!!). Very few of these people are in more than one category. In fact, I can only think of two - one 'online' who is also a 'music' person, and one 'music' person who is also sometimes a 'church' person. Is that normal?

And how many people have 'real life' people reading their blogs and stuff. For some reason, I don't tell RL people about my blog. Maybe it's because I am more honest online about feelings and stuff than I am IRL? If someone asked for the link, I'd let them have it, but it's not something I'd voluntarily give. Bizarre.
