Yesterdays events, linked to the journey back from Swansea

When we were almost home from Swansea, I heard something in my car start hissing. Not having a clue what it was, I kept driving.

5 minutes from home, the car stopped, and was smoking and overheating in rather a big way. Having left it 5 minutes, it cooled down enough to drive the rest of the way home (with only a small amount of smoke!). It died again just as we drove in the driveway.

Socks looked at it the following morning, and thought that the oil and water looked okay, and that it was probably the air conditioning that was broken, having been on full blast the entire journey home. So he said to drive it carefully, and see how it went.

I was supposed to be leading one of the Sunday school groups on Sunday, so having spent the evening before planning and preparing it, I set off to church on Sunday morning (luckily minus Alien as I couldn't lead Sunday school and have her too!). I made it about 6 miles before the smoke started again, and the temperature guage told me that it was waaaaaaaay too hot.

I rung the RAC.

Two and a half hours later they arrived and towed me home. Never been towed before. It was horrid!! It was with a solid bar and I had to be in the car to steer. It was really disconcerting being so close to the van and not having any control at all.

Some problem with the water pipes or something.

The RAC are coming to collect it soon to take it to a garage.

Oh the joys of it all. I guess I'll just have to spend the day sunbathing rather than going out and doing the other things I was supposed to do. Shame.
