Chicken shit and helpless prayers

Not linked though. Just two thoughts.

But before that, did you know that in Equatorial Guinea (or however its spelt), it is illegal to name a baby Monica.

It's muck spreading time. They've spent the last couple of days gathering in the crops, so we've had dust everywhere and constant tractor sounds, and now they're spreading the shit. It stinks. I decided it smelt a bit like Marmite earlier. But its just soooooo strong. You just cannot get away from the smell. And since all our doors and windows are open at the moment, there's no escape anywhere!!

And helpless prayers. I remember having a conversation once with my vicar about prayer, and asking whether people simply prayed cos they felt helpless in helping a person or a situation, and felt there was nothing they could actually actively do to change things or make them better. By praying, they actually felt that they were doing something, so it made them feel better. I do wonder if that's what a lot of prayer is about (even though I know lots do actually believe God and prayer can make a difference).
