I'm becoming obsessive

... about this E numbers thing.

I had a Muffin after swimming today, and read the ingredients (after I'd eaten it!!!). It has E160b, E322, E422, E450, E50, E477, E415, E481, E202, E471. Just off to find out about them.

And while I'm here, can I have a brief rant. In a random conversation with a friend the other day, I mentioned that money was tight at the moment, and that I'm going to have to go back to work more (I currently work 0.53). She mentioned something about Working Tax Credits and were we getting them. I didn't have a clue what she was on about. Never heard of them before.

Anyway, I thought I'd investigate. Went online, found the details, didn't understand them, send off for the form anyway, didn't understand the form, filled it in as best I could baring in mind it made absolutely no sense at all. Yesterday we received mail from the tax people saying they were kindly giving us a reasonable amount of money to cover the cost of childcare. Sadly it would only be backdated 3 months, despite the fact that Alien started going to nursery when she was about 6 months cos I had to go back to work then, cos we couldn't afford for me not to. Turns out, we could've got even more for her when she was under one.

So why the hell doesn't anyone tell us about these things???? How are we supposed to know they exist????

Socks then sat there and was working out how much we could get if he was made redundant - all the different benefits and monies he could claim for not going back to work. It's ridiculous. It's enough to live on. It's bloody annoying. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. (Can't write more. Too annoyed!!!)
