Bank Cards

About 5 or 6 weeks ago I went to order a new bank card after a shop refused to take it to guarantee a cheque as the signature strip had been wiped off. They assured me that a new one would be delivered within 5 working days. I thought that would be fine and all would be sorted. 5 days later came and went, it was about another 5 before I heard anything. The courier company sent me a letter telling me they would send it back in 18 days if I didn't claim it as they couldn't deliver it to me personally. I would also need to prove who I am. If you've seen any of my photos on my ID like driving license or passport you should probably ask to see a newer picture. Anyway, I phoned the automated booking line, arranged a redelivery and waited. I even waited a week later to check that they had got the days muddled. Still I waited. I tried the email system and booked it for a day that I knew I would be in my flat. I waited. Then I went to the bank to try and get some cash. The machine went 'bleugh' at me - and not through lack of money. My old card had been stopped as I wouldn't need it now I have a new one. Thanks. I spent a lot of time trying to find out what had happened and then a lot of time whinging. So, I cancelled my plans for the following day and rearranged the delivery, again. I sat in my flat for the whole day getting angrier and angrier. Still no card. On the following day I went to the bank to whinge again. I found out that the couriers had been in possession of the card since the 8th of September. *I* found out that small piece of information on October 8th! So, could the bank do anything about it? No. Not unless I wanted to order another one and go through all this again. Eventually I spoke to someone at the couriers and they weren't helpful either.

Later last Friday I got a call from the same company telling me delivery would be at 4pm. Great, but I was approximately 100+ miles away! Anyway, to cut a really long story down to just being a long one, it finally arrived in the post today.

It was delivered by Royal Mail and wasn't actually signed for by me. It was signed for the people who *always* sign for my post. The complaint to Special Mail Services will be in the post, Royal Mail, shortly. All in all, I spent four days in the flat waiting for delivery. I wasn't impressed.

What was a nice surprise was getting a free bus card. Oh, the advantages of being not quite a student.
