...I should fill you in a bit more on the fete really, as It was a fun day.
I was on the games stall, basically I was given a bag of things and told to devise games with them. The "pick a tee" game already had a board explaining it, a board with holes in, a tee in each hole, some tees had coloured bases, depending what colour you picked you got money back (from 1p to £1). One annoying boy spent hours playing it and getting in the way - I was trying to convince him to stop wasting his money on it for a while, it was set up so you would lose in the long run!
Paddling pool, plastic ducks with hooks on, and plastic friut. seems obvious, fish a duck out with a rod and depending whats on its base depends what you win. 2 problems, all ducks plain underneath, no rod. Well someone managed to fashion a rather nice rod out of a stick, a paper clip and some string. I decided the rules were Hook a Duck! 10p a go, hook a duck and win a lollipop, everyone a winner (unless thay gave up) the irony being that the prize was only worth 5p.
Beanbags, bit of wood with holes in. 20p 3 bags, 1 through = lollipop, 2 through = carton of drink, 3 through = lollipop and drink! This one was the most fun, but least played. I put the line nearer and near the hole as the afternoon went by, to try and encourage people to play it!
There were also bouncy castles, plant stall, food stall, guess the birthday of the hugest teddy I have ever seen (Ironically won by the person storing it for the last few weeks, I bet her partner was hoping they had seen the last of it!), and all the tacky entertainment you would expect at a fete. Some local radio "celebraties" turned up as well, not that I think that anyone had ever heard of either of them!!
I think my arms have finally recovered from all the lifting and dragging things around, there is more to this fete lark than old people and old books you know!
(the plastic fruit had no purpose, by the way)
