...On Friday night we went to see the film In the Shadow of the Moon, a documentary about the Apollo moon landings. It was entirely made up from original film foodtage (digitally cleaned up and looking new and bright) and "talking heads" from some of the men involved in the first missions.
It gave a real sense of what the missions meant to people at the time, both the individuals involved, and the wider world as well. I was particulary interested how the experience changed or shaped the astronauts way of looking at the world, from religious views to environmental concern, it seemed to affect each in an unique way.*
Do seek out this film, and see it digitally projected if you can, despite a tiny bit of rather clumsy Ron Howard direction it is quite an astounding piece of work.
* I am having a grammar block, should it be an unique or a unique?
