Christmas looming...

... I seem to only update this blog at weekends at the moment, sorry about that!

Still really enjoying work, some things are still eluding me, certain areas like mortgages still confuse me, and a bit of antiquated software called "head office link" is so illogical I have to ask how to use it all the time (it appears to be based on Ceefax). But other things I am starting to understand and even have had the confidence to do a bit of "selling" over the counter this week. The people are really nice, we went out for drinks on Tuesday as Scott was leaving, and Christmas drinks are planned for next Friday.

Very glad to be out of the whole SPCK situation, popped in there earlier this week, shelves are empty, the shop looks a mess and talking to one of the staff there the place is being run by agency staff who don't know one end of a bible from another. My annoyance with "St Stephen the Great" has died down now, I have realised they are just religious fundamentalists who will never be able to see other peoples point of view and any opposition they get will be seen as fuel to keep what they are doing. The blame really lays firmly at the door of SPCK, who made the transfer possible in the first place, then failed to provide support to their former staff. Anyway, certainly the ex-staff down here all seem to have moved on, and these things have a habit of working together for the best. Tonight we are all meeting up for a drink, we may not work in the shop any more, but friendships will long continue.

Went to see The Darjeeling Limited on Monday, the new Wes Anderson film. I was quite disappointed by it, I have really liked his previous films, and although this one had some great moments and ideas it just did not hold interest for me. Having said that we went with Nick and Sarah and they loved it, so perhaps it was just us?

Last night we played Poker, with lame Christmas gifts (I can say that as I bought the lame gifts), it was good fun and much wine was drank and too much hot camembert was eaten.

Now I have a long weekend (annual leave to use up!) and lots of plans before Ivonne leaves for Germany on Thursday, Christmas really is getting close...
