... Was woken this morning by the explosions in Hemel Hempstead. Not literally, you understand, it is far too far away ho have heard it, but heard the news on the radio and had to get out of bed to watch coverage on the TV. As I was up ealry I thought it would be the perfect time to check out the breakfasts at the Imperial, which we have been meaning to do for ages! Turned out to be very good, £1.99 for a very good traditional fried breakfast, and £1.25 for 2 hot drinks. Bargain. Also included in the price was a robin landing in the bush just outside the window, looking all fluffed up and wintery, a squirrel rooting through the bins and inexplicably this peacock.
Then in a bid to escape the fog that has engulfed Exeter today we drove down to Brixham, where it was much clearer and more sunny. A really lovely seaside town, very compact and colourful. Managed to get a christmas present in one of the gift shops and a nice stroll.
And just over the wall in the next pictures we saw a seal swimming in the sea, only feet away from us! It didn't hang around for long but amazing to see in Torbay!
Then we stopped at Sheldon for a coffee and returned to foggy Exeter!
