...More Aristophanes to revise today, it is not encouraging when even the translator of a play in the introduction says "The Assemblywomen is a disappointing work". It is an odd middle play, very late for Aristophanes, and almost tipping into the "New Comedy" style of Menander (When I say new I am still talking 290BC...) It's all a bit of a mess, a bit like series seven of Friends.
