The first retrospective look at life when I was offline.
Well - I moved. Twice in fact. Once with the family I lodged with and then to the house I lodge in now. That was in October 2003 and doesn't time fly!
I rent a warm, comfortable room is a terraced house not far from Stamford Brook tube and within walking distance of Hammersmith, Chiswick and Shepherds' Bush (that is if I'm feeling energetic).
There's just three drawbacks but then that's to be expected in London.
Firstly, distance from church - a bus ride from Acton Vale to West Ealing when on Sundays they don't run the limited stop bus. It takes longer to get back than to get to church - mainly because of the bottle necks of Sunday shoppers and no parking restrictions.
Secondly, distance from the Brentford pub where there's the weekly pub quiz and live music every Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Getting there is fine but getting a cab back is expensive (but it's worth not hanging round at deserted bus stops)
Thirdly, I've too much clutter for one room and I'm loath to get rid of stuff because I may need it. In any case I do regular culls of what I do & don't need whenever mother has a stall somewhere or there's some jumble sale/church fete. it's mainly books, CDs art stuff and clothes - unlike mother I've only one wardrobe!!!
But it's the warmest room in the house. It gets the sun all day. It's got double glazing.
And the rest of the house is lovely too.
And now we've got broadband - yipeeeeeeeeeee
