Yesterday morning I finally lost my rag with my supervisor this morning. Unfortunately the General Manager was in his office and he called our boss to get things sorted out.
I must admit it was "six of one, half dozen of the other" and we both ended up getting a reprimand, but this supervisor did his "ever so humble" act and brown nosed it big time with the boss so my side of the story was hardly taken notice of, and I was made to look the guilty party.
The problem is that when supervisor wants something he wants it yesterday - and he can't cope with being asked to wait, not by me, not by anybody. If he has to wait for something he goes back to his desk and sits there looking at his work tapping his foot and grunting.
He's one of these people that panics if he gets an email - in other words he's crap at prioritising. An email comes in and it has to be answered then and there. He doesn't see it as just another communication tool that you have to take control of. You do not have to be a slave to emails, in the same way you don't become slave to the phone. It's a time management skill - and that's what the supervisor is lacking.
What really got me yesterday was the fact that he accused me of not chasing up an invoice query because the supplier emailed him chasing payment. If he had read the comments against the invoice he would know that it's in the hands of one of the senior managers.
So why hadn't I chased it? The reason I'm not chasing any queries is that whilst I'm very very grateful he'd registered the invoices whilst I was off sick (my daily priority) I've spent a day sorting out the wrong accounts/codes/amounts he keyed in. I also had to meet the prearranged deadline for statement reconciliations so that he could start his payment run.
I am not a bloody octopus - and even though I'm a woman I can't be expected to multitask 24/7. I'm only just back at work from having a bad asthma attack and I'm still not 100% fit.
Oh sod it - he can stuff his queries where the sun doesn't shine.
My health is my priority - not work.
Sorry - just letting off the steam and saying what I was too upset to say directly to my boss this morning
