Well the man is still in London, although there have been a few more "I'm off" incidents. He's now rejected the job offer (unfortunately in no uncertain terms) but he's confident there will be others and he's hoping to get some qualification that will help him as a systems engineer, but it's all a mystery to me.
So we're still seeing each other as both friends and "lovers" and enjoying the developing friendship. It's nice to have someone who cares for you and wants what's best for you. In fact he shows more "love" than my ex ever did in the 3 years of marriage I endured.
As for work - well the supervisor from hell hasn't changed at all (no surprises there) but my manager has now left, as have both sales managers, and today someone "up top" announced he was off. Rats leaving a sinking ship? We shall see. I think the service manager will be next. As he said today "nothing is permanent".
It makes me feel restless and the more I think about it the more I feel like a round peg in a square hole (those who know me can get the picture). I've got a craving for the sea, to be able to have quick access to the coast to hear the waves and take walks along the beach and feel the sea breezes.
Then again the thought of leaving frightens me - new friends, new work, new community, new church. I guess if I took the plunge I'd rise to the challenge and be excited at the adventure. I envy those who have made the decision to change their lives this year.
That being said, it is nice to be "settled" and not have constant change. I've lived here for almost 2 years now, and despite the landlady being difficult at times (paranoid, stroppy, neurotic), at least I know what to expect - usually a rant against Blair, Muslims, Ken Livingstone and media bias against the Conservative party. When it's not that it's comments about my weight, what I'm eating and what she thinks I could be suffering from. I just go into trance mode - I'm sure she realises that I'm not really paying attention to her, but life's too short for battles.
Thinking of which - the pub quiz was cancelled yesterday because of international football. They shouldn't have bothered.
Further thought - it's amazing how many people have suddenly become interested in cricket.
