It never rains but...

I had a horrible morning at the hospital - and travelling there by bus was not much better either. I really did feel unwell. Still I got there around 9.30 and was 5th on the list (so far so good).

Howevere the powers that be have managed to "lose" my notes - which are probably with the department doing the blood test on Friday and which was shut today. This meant that when I did get to see a Senior House officer I had to recall from memory when treatment began; what they have done and dates when I was really in no fit state to do so. It also meant that I wasn't seen until 11.30 which did not help how I was feeling so yes I did burst into floods of tears.

The "good" news is that they did manage to obtain a copy of the histology report and I now know the name of what they found (a benign lymphoepithelial parotid cyst - what a mouthful, no pun intended)

The other good news that came out of it was seeing the consultant himself as the SHO was needed to confirm how he should proceed. Unfortunately no other results were available so they are unsure of how to continue treatment, so the consultant doesn't not know why this swelling is happening. Apparently things should have settled down by now. He did however drain more fluid off but sadly this evening it's back to being swollen.

So it's back to the hospital on Friday, and until things clear up and they begin to have answers. In the meantime I'd better get used to being a pin cushion.
