Happy New Year

I finally awoke this morning (only just) with the feeling that I'd rather overdone things the night (morning) before. I say finally - I had woken a couple of times - once to drink water and take some paracetamol and the second because youngest brother phoned (bless). He did understand when I couldn't string a coherent sentence together - and I have phoned him since but...

After waiting ages for best friend to arrive (finally after 9.00pm when originally she was going to come at tea time) I waddled off to church for our 4th New Year's Eve extravaganza.

It was a good party, excellent. Lots of people of all ages (not all from church either). At first no-one was dancing but after about an hour myself and a friend decided to strut our stuff but it all new records so we really didn't know what we were up to. Then Linda & Mick turned up with a large contingent. Off went the new and on went the oldies and the dancefloor went wild.

Now for some reason I seem to have reactivated my bad knee ligament :((( I've no idea when exactly this happened so i'm not sure what record to blame it on - YMCA? The Birdie Song? Agadoo? The Time Warp? The Conga? (I know it's sad but....)

Anyway midnight came, balloons fell from the church ceiling, party poppers went off, we sang Auld Lang Syne and danced some more.

Then someone asked whether we were going on to Don & Fiona's. It was past 1am by this time but what the hell - it was New Year and they are Scottish.

The last time I went there for New Year I gained the reputation of helping Don drink a bottle of fine single malt...and this year I managed it again. (Next time Don hide the Gelmorangie from reach OK?)

Anyway I think we were finally thrown out about 3.30am - I've not done that for a long long time.

Best friend has now just left having assisted me in polishing off a packet a crumpets, poppadoms (served with dips) and a couple of pots of tea during what was left of the day.

Must now get an early night....
