The alarm went off, I switched on the light, rolled over and hid under the duvet. Wonderful start to the first w*rking day of 2003.
Strangely managed to get there on time - possibly because the schools aren't back yet so most people are still on holiday. Spent the first part of the morning contacting various recruitment agencies and updating my c.v. - I mean I've got to look after number 1 now this job is ending. My w*rk colleague Jeremy sent my c.v. to one of his contacts (bless). They are interested in meeting me so 8.30 Wednesday I'm going to their offices for a "chat". Help!!!! That means getting up at 6.00am!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!
The rest of the day was spent trying to get things done for the handover. A rather half hearted attempt was made to do a checklist which now sits half completed on the C drive. I found that the more I did, the more questions about how things would run and potential problem areas kept raising their little heads so there is a growing list for the manager to look at when she returns on Monday (how many emails can I send to fill her inbox I wonder?). Some people deserve full inboxes ;))))
The green opposite where I w*rk is predominantly a puddle - just waiting for the ducks to arrive. I don't know where all this wetness is coming from - someone tell the angels to turn the tap off.
The family I lodge with return today so the house will be full again. There are 4 kids (oldest 7, youngest 2 1/2) who will no doubt be noisy and excitable. Must remember to say no if asked to child mind especially this coming weekend (and not feel guilty when I do say no). If I'm having to w*rk full hours when not 100% there is no way I'm going to tackle kiddie tantrums and bedtimes.
Oh well - back to the grindstone. There's another hour to kill before I can escape :(((
