I know I have them in all the right places. But can they be found when the phlebotomist wants to stick a needle in them - can they heck!
They hide deep in my arm - so much so you need a magnifying glass to see them.
Luckily I've got used to it so I tease the nurse or doctor and get them to play "hunt the vein". Some say "Oh no not one of those?" and run in search of an experienced needle user. Others see it as a direct challenge to their skills. They'll thump and prick and thump again to try and raise a vein - often with no luck so I'm a bruised pin cushion at the end of it.
The best ones are those who take a good look at my arm and attack when the vein is unaware and hasn't the chance to escape.
The nurse today did just that - success first time & 5 tubes of blood later I was done.
There's something to be said for professional vampires.
