I got up earlyish and started to gather clothes & other necessities for the weekend into the suitcase.
Now it isn't and big case - it's designed for weekends - but by the time I'd stuck knickers, t-shirts and a pair of shoes in it is was full. And I still needed to pack wash stuff, make up and all the medical bits and pieces I have to take.
Then, because entertainment at my mother's tends to be a case of "I'm listening to/watching this" or "do we have to have music/radio/TV on?" it's necessary to take the CD walkman and a variety of CDs to listen to. In which case I may as well take my cassette walkman and some tapes as back up.
And books - don't forget reading material for those early nights (mother is ready for bed by 7.30 most evenings). I've also decided to take her some books from my library - though she'll probably reject some of them because "I know what I like"
So now it's a fully packed case, one carrier bag of books and cassettes, and one hangbag (well it's a sort of duffel bag which acts as a hand baggy sort of thing and is as far removed from the type of handbag Thatcher and Her Majesty use as I can possibly get).
Now where did I put the budgie repellant?....
