I spent money again today.
You won't believe this but I've joined a fitness centre.
I went as a guest today and really enjoyed it. It's got a lovely pool, which is only 4ft in depth so I don't feel too scared and know I can always touch the bottom (fear of going under). I joined in an aqua aerobics class and had a bit of a "swim" afterwards.
I say swim - I can only just do the breast stroke (it's the only one where I can keep my head from going under - which panics me). I wish I could overcome my fear - but that's a legacy of an accident in a swimming pool when I was in my teens.
Anyway, the rest of facilities are good. There's a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna (I sampled 2 and dried my towel in the sauna!)
I also went in the gym and used the treadmill and cycled for a bit. I won't touch the weights or use any of the other equipment until I've been assessed by a trainer.
They do good classes as well - so I'm going to try yoga, tai chi and some other similar things. I think I'd prefer them to aerobics (for a start I hate it when all you get is techno music).
Being a "Wellbeing" centre they also have a dietian and a lifestyle counsellor; seminars on diet and healthcare and other things.
So that's the body part of my MOT (as I call it) sorted as well as the spirit.
No what on earth do I do with my mind?
