Dopey and sleepy

That's how I describe my mother tonight.

Phoned her at the hospital and it sounded like she'd had a few too many, which knowing mother she'd never do.

Mind you the phones to the hospital are a rip off - the numbers for the patient's bedside phones are all high cost 39p per minute. Goodness only knows what the charge would have been if I used my mobile. I think the service is run by a private company not the NHS and it includes the bedside televisions. Mind you, it's not free for patients either - they have to buy a card which allows them a set amount of minutes either watching TV or using the phone. There's no ward TV - so you're stuck if you have no money.

Anyway - to answer some of the critics who feel I don't care about my mother - I DO! I've been in constant contact with the ward and my brothers to find out her progress.

And furthermore - when you are unemployed and on "Jobseekers Allowance" you have to be "available for w*rk" or the government cuts what little benefit they pay you. And before anyone comments "get a job" - I am trying but my current sickness record runs against me and the fact that I was ill and due to have an operation earlier in the year meant that my last employers terminated my ontract of employment because I was a temp.

I suggest that people read the archives to get a sense of what has gone on before jumping to conclusions.
