Yesterday and all that part 1

I had an interview for a part-time temporary payroll position at 9.00am so I had to be up, ready and enthusiastic.

Needless to say I don't have the experience of the exact computer packages they use. Employers nowadays don't take into account your ability to learn and switch from one programme to another. They also fail to realise that although they use a "named" package they will have customised it for their own needs and they will still have to train you into their procedures. No, if you haven't used their system in the exact way they have it set up then you haven't a hope.

Let's face it, they want a clone of the person who is leaving - in fact they've probably already left because companies nowdays fail to replace a leaver before they walk out of the building, which means that if you get the job it's likely that you are being trained by someone who has no idea what they are doing and probably resents the fact that you can just walk in and competently take over.

Anyway, I won't hear whether I have the job until lunchtime, and then they will expect me to start on Monday. Short notice - but I guess that could work to my advantage.
