This phase has come to a definite conclusion, and it's time to pick myself up, dust myself down and move on.
All Japes' systems have returned to normal.
Now, how to re-train the postman to be a little more considerate with my post. It may have looked like a circular, and worthy only of screwing up and thrusting through the letter box with the Special Offers from Somewhere I Never Shop Leaflet but was in fact the vital key to the resumption of Normal Service. I almost put it straight in the recycling bag which lives by the door, but fortunately caught sight of the post mark and the small logo on the franking.
