Much has been learnt today

New-ish one day a week chaplaincy job is now settling into a good routine, and from nine weeks ago, when I thought I’d never make any in-roads into the life of the institution on just one day a week, I now seem to be a very accepted, if somewhat eccentric, part of it all.

Many an interesting conversation (though not for the easily shocked or faint-hearted; these are 16 - 19 year olds!) can be under the guise of “helping the hapless chaplain to get her weekly display right!” If it involves cutting out and gluing and sticking and general mayhem, so much the better. Requests for more activities were enthusiastically issued as I left to move on to the next bit of my day…

New coat is a great success! It also does a better cover up of the official looking outfit.

Further conversations with close friends are all helping confirm I’m not completely losing the plot on the decision making front. And bestest friend is coming to stay for a few days soon, which will be very nice.

From being an alto, verging on tenor, I can now regularly hit a top F with confidence, for the first time in my life.. Scarily, the only line I now don’t sing along with at some point during choir practice is the bass line. (But I have been known to sing it up an octave to help our solitary bass learn his notes..) How on earth did I get to this from being someone who wasn’t allowed to sing in the junior school choir because she was out of tune?

And, I think I’ve finally accepted there are some things only I can do something about. Well, when I say finally, I mean finally for the time being…

(Blushes... I've also learnt the difference between a page and a post, but I might well be having a slower learner moment, as I've done that at least three times so far.)
