Mmmmm - rare treats this afternoon. A Sunday afternoon to myself... nice. Lunch that is no hassle. Even better still.
So, after church, I came home to the delight of a simple lunch on my own, piano playing whilst I was waiting for it to finish cooking, (Mixture of some praise songs which I never get to sing in church, and a couple of good rousing hymns, Debussy and Handel. I'm nothing if not eclectic in my musical tastes.) then a quick clear up in my room, and an afternoon reading books and blogs ahead of me. I did think of getting my clarinet out, but I'm a bit out of practice, and a bit full after my lunch. Long gone are the days when I could have my evening meal at college, shoot off to the practice block to grab my favourite practice room, and do an hours practice immediately I'd eaten.
Oh, and getting my laundry hung up. I can hear the machine spinning furiously, so it's about to come into land soon. (It did, I was very good and went and dealt with it immediately! Only because I needed the second load to go through today, rather than tomorrow!)
I did consider going out for a long walk, but I did manage to walk most of the way to church (40 minutes walk. No buses going out of town before 10 on a Sunday in these parts.) before being anyone picked me up. My intention always is to walk. Some weeks, if I'm resolute and it's a nice day, I resist the temptation of the lift, but this time of year, when it's bad enough just getting up to go, yielding to temptation is easy.
Now. The only other pressing matter is the hoodie decision. For the last three or four years, I've had a hooded fleece that has doubled up as my coat for most occasions. I have a waterproof coat which I use in appropriate weather, but for every day purposes, the hooded fleece has sufficed. More than suffice, really. It had decent pockets, it was cosy, and comfy. Almost perfect, apart from the fact I hated how short it was. I'm not really the shape for a short fleece. Oh, and the colour. It only went properly with one garment, and whilst I wear that a lot for official-ish sort of purposes, everything else I wear is not that colour.
So, I really needed something else for every day purposes. Which I found after a long day trailing around shops on Friday... I'm not the shape to find clothes shopping easy, either, and it's an exhausting and demoralising exercise most of the time. But, after about four hours mooching, I found the very thing, and it fitted. It's a more grown up kind of fleece, really! But looks like a traditional coat. It has no hood. Covers parts my fleece didn't, and is a much more Japes friendly colour. And at a most excellent price, too. I may be forced to carry an umbrella, but, that can stay in my back pack.
So, do I keep my former hoodie so it can be useful on cold days before the heating gets going properly? Do I sternly force myself to keep de-cluttered...and throw it away? It's certainly not fit for passing on to the charity shops. Do I be frugal and keep it for some as yet un-specified purpose that might involve cutting it up? Decisions, decisions. I need coffee.
