Catching up

Feels like a while since I have blogged.. but it isn't a full two weeks so I suppose it isn't that bad. It feels as though there's a lot going on and that I don't have much of a chance to sit down!! Maybe as I wind down over the coming weeks and prepare for the arrival of munchkin and the inevitable overwhelming tiredness and lack of time to do anything much (probably including blogging) I'll have more time for musing here but in the mean time here's a general update...

The RSPCA follow up visit went very well - another success story according to the visitor. So that's the final part of the 'getting a cat' saga.

We went to France last weekend to stay with my Aunt (also Godmother) and Uncle. It was generally wet and windy with perhaps one or two sunny intervals over the 3 days. Of course, the morning we left was gorgeous. On the other hand, I really don't cope well with hot weather (such as yesterday and today around the Midlands) so the fact that it was cold and miserable was probably a good thing. It also meant that we didn't feel the need to go off sightseeing or anything but instead mooched around the house with my Aunt & Uncle and had a really good chance to catch up on anything and everything. We left the cat at home and some friends came round to feed her twice a day and spent a couple of hours here keeping her company. That seemed to work pretty well, although I don't think that we would leave her for any longer than 3 days - we'd put her in a cattery or something. She went totally mad when we got back on Wednesday, spent the day being completely hyper (good entertainment!) and was very happy the next morning that we were still here!!

We visited family on Thursday and in the process borrowed a moses baseket/stand, and a rocking chair (apparently these are very good for nursing). It was lovely to catch up and see the little 4-month old who has now grown too big for the aformentioned moses basket. Friday was manic with appointments (midwife, etc.) and another trip to mothercare to play with different car seats/travel systems. We have been to various places over the last few weeks and still haven't come to a sensible conclusion... Saturday we had a lovely day visiting Hubby's grandparents and also saw his Aunt & cousin (although didn't manage to get gluten free fish & chips as had been the plan) and went to Symphony Hall in the evening to hear Elgar's The Apostles.

Today we've been over to pick up seedlings from Mum and Dad's, and spent the rest of the day with friends over there. We had a lovely carvery lunch and rushed back so that hubby could get down to the allotment and do the necessary planting. I was going to help but my brother wanted to come over to pick some stuff up so I've been catching up with him while hubby does all the hard work :o)

Life is good. Busy isn't too much of a problem really, things are due to get less so over the next couple of weeks. Bump is fine, very active and growing alarmingly (according to the sonographer the other week munchkin is now putting on 1/2 lb a week!! No wonder I sometimes think that I can physically feel my belly stretching..). With a bit of luck the next couple of days will be a lot more relaxed. A good chance to catch up on the episodes of Holby City and CSI I've recorded. Oh, and water the allotment if the weather continues as it is...
