Weeds & Junk

Another weekend of tidying/shopping generally preparing stuff.. The weather wasn't great so we didn't manage to spend more than an hour or so at the allotment. The weeds are loving the wet weather and are rampant :o( However the veg is doing ok too - the peas and mange tout are both doing well and starting to flower. The runner beans are almost at the top of their poles and also starting to flower. I can't wait for all those nutritious greens now that the broad beans are over and currently we just have lettuces. Don't get me wrong, I love fresh lettuces (no need for salad dressing!), but it's hardly the weather for eating salad twice a day...

In any case, we managed to sort out quite a bit of stuff but we're definitely not there yet. The problem is that we have to get stuff out of the baby's room, which means finding somewhere else for it. This has the knock-on effect of requiring other rooms to be sorted out too. The net effect is that all rooms end up looking as though they've been ransacked (which I suppose they have, in a way). Then there's the stuff that you end up with at the end of it which has nowhere to go - either to be got rid of, or that you don't want to get rid of but have nowhere for it to go. It's a stage by stage process. Hopefully we'll be rather closer having things in order by the time munchkin arrives, although that seems to be creeping up rather quickly (especially when one considers the fact that anything from 37 weeks onwards is considered to be 'full term' and that the hospital bag should be prepared before 36 weeks - just in case!!).

Yesterday I spent the day in London, an interesting event and a very nice lunch (as always!). :o) The whole travelling down there aspect is a bit tiring, but I thoroughly recommend travelling in 1st class when using the train. Don't worry I am not suggesting spending vast quantities of money on it, book your tickets in advance (at least 3 days before) and you get some great deals on single tickets (much better value than return tickets).
