Nothing in particular

It's funny the way it happens - when I sit down with my computer and find that I have time to post something on my blog, I haven't really got anything in particular to say. Other times I am so busy there's no way I could stop and sit down to blog but I have loads to say. Today is the former, but I am hoping that as I type perhaps a few things will come to me...
It's been a fairly quiet day. Hubby is at work today rather than working from home so left early. I hadn't slept well and wasn't likely to drop off again so got up and made Munchkin's packed lunch as Tuesday is the day he goes to playgroup and stays for lunch. Neither of the boys seemed particularly in a hurry to get up and it was a rare thing that when I went in Munchkin got up and Pumpkin stayed asleep! Munchkin and I had a lovely 10 minutes having a cuddle and a bit of a giggle together before the little one started mithering.
Pumpkin spent most of the morning having a nap while Munchkin was at playgroup. I did a few things I needed to do but nothing big or overly exciting (made bread, did the washing up, sent a few e-mails that have been waiting a while, ..). By the time he woke up there wasn't much time for lunch and he was still a bit on the sleepy side so ended up eating crackers in the car on the way back to playgroup!! They played very nicely together when we got home again. It's lovely to see them like that and I hope that as they grow up they become real friends. Some mornings when they wake up they just sit there and giggle at each other across the room! On those days I like to just take a minute with my cup of tea to listen to them from outside the door rather than rushing in to get them up!! Those are the moments that make it all worthwhile and I feel that I am doing the right thing by staying home bringing them up rather than getting a job. Of course there is a flipside to that but I don't want to go off on a rant this afternoon.
So, they're upstairs hopefully having a nap. The little one wasn't really up for having another sleep as he'd only got up from the last one 2 hours before!! But all seems very quiet since I have been writing this post so fingers crossed they're actually napping.
On Sunday we went to Stanwick Lakes to meet up with friends of ours from Uni. They have three children aged 6, 4 and 2 so along with our 2 and 1 year old it's quite a boisterous get-together. We had lots of fun, though! I had nearly phoned them on Saturday to cancel because the place is outdoors and the weather had been damp and cold with the forecast being showery for Sunday. I am so glad we went anyway - the weather was mostly sunny if a little windy. The adventure playground is so much fun and we all had a really good time even though we ended up wet and covered in sand!! After we picnicked we went for a walk around the lake before coming home again. Munchkin didn't nap on the way home in the car so was really shattered by bedtime - as were we! There's a lot to be said for all that excitement and fresh air!
