We recently spent a weekend at the family shack at the head of the Pieman River ... below are a few shots from this trip. The Pieman River (google earth it) runs West to the West Coast of Tasmania ... very deep, very fast, in the middle of the Tarkine wilderness ...

This first one is an illustration of one of the perils of driving along the banks of the river at Pieman Heads ... my sister in law and I jumped up and down on the quicksand and watched it undulate for about about 4 metres in front of us - freaky!

As you can see, the wilderness extends right down to the river.

This is where the river meets the Indian Ocean - Pieman Heads.

View from the shacks to Pieman Heads - very big wave, very big zoom (that's a large stretch of beach you're looking across, so the people are not actually as large as they appear in relation to the waves).

Heading West down the Pieman, towards the West Coast.

The Arcadia, a restored wooden river boat, heading West towards Pieman Heads.

Still heading West.

And finishing off with one of my fence post toppers - I might not be very good at pottery - but I'm colourful!
