Of work and husbands and rampant consumerism and materialism

work is fine .. it's money in the bank and will do until something really cool comes along - in the meantime they're nice people, it's a nice environment, I can do all the things I need to do in my lunch hour 'cause the 'city' is about 1km wide, and I'm 5 minutes walk from Harvey Norman (furnishings, photos, electricals, and all sorts of household goods - love it) and Spotlight (curtains, blinds, crafty bits, wool, cushions, fabric, etc - love it too). Nothing there not to like really. Have realised that previous job (with BroBoss) was the best job I've ever had and I probably will never find another I love as much - now going through process of resigning onself to that and trying not to look at any new jobs with critical eyes ...

Husband is awesome - still - even though [stop reading now if at all squeamish] he did put a table saw through his finger last week ... luckily he did not take the top off it, or hit bone - stitches came out today, it's a bit urky to look at but should heal up with only scarring as a momento - silly but lucky, that's my lovely boy :)

He's on holidays for a fortnight from Monday ... I 'think' I"m still talking to him ;)

I'm happy happy happy (and feeling slightly guilty after Ian's post re ethical investing etc) but Burnie (nearest large 'city' - I think nearly 20,000?) is getting a Gloria Jeans, Katies, Supre, Jay Jays Jeans, and a Bunnings (that'd be the 'hardware' in my blog title!!!!!!) .... I'd love to be all green and boycott them but I won't 'cause I"m excited they're here :).... and the boy loves his large skinny cappucino's with caramel syrup too much for me to object to Gloria Jeans! Gotta keep my boy happy :)

I'm still trying to work out the paper recyling ... we don't have it down here, but the parents in law would have it in town .... so I may have to find a crate and just fill it up and inflict it on them fortnightly ... there is no green waste pickup down here - there used to be but it was abused so they stopped it - bummer! I've written the council a lovely letter about it :), truly lovely, who knows, it could happen - in the meantime I'm piling it up and burning it (well not at the moment as we've had 15days of rain! but you know what I mean). I will eventually get a compost bin for the stuff that will compost ... needs must really, get what we need, not necessarily what we want.

Though I did buy a nice pair of shoes today ....

I'm very glad of the rain (especially as we had some sunshine today, so I can't whinge about the darkness) as it means most people are a lot happier - though there has been some absolutely shocking weather in Victoria in the last couple of days, poor things, and we have 100km + /hour winds predicted for tonight ... but I'll snuggle up with the boy in the flannelette sheets and we won't care. Mum says you can still hit dry earth a couple of inches down at their place, and they've had only 2mm in the last fortnight - but it's still coming and we're praying for more - yay God!
