Theme tunes

My latest stats show that someone linked to this blog via a search for Miffy singalong songs. Maybe I should make those a feature of musings along with the books that I'm reading. I'm tempted to put 'Heaven knows I'm miserable now' as the current chart topper; though that's not strictly speaking true, Miffcat notwithstanding. As long as I avoid surfing the cat's protection site, all should be not so much 'The Sun has got his hat on' as as 'One more step along the world I go.' It could be a heck of a lot worse. And Miffdog is being uncharacteristically well behaved at the moment; another plus. I've told the local rescue place of Miffcat's demise and this week being pretty busy am trying to last out til half term before getting in contact again and starting the search for another furry friend for our resident hairy horror.

Whilst we're talking theme music I do find God (OK, I think it may be God) tends to pop up in unexpected places. Like church. (no clever comments, please!). Like the other week during a sermon using characters from the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe to draw comparisons with the Christian message. Weary aside: As my neighbour said, "How many MORE characters are there in that book? I'm getting so fed up with it week after week!" You can have too much of a good thing, methinks. Anyway, this particular week the character chosen was the White Witch: the allegory being obvious - always winter, never Christmas, the fall, sin coming into the world, how to avoid being led astray by the machinations of Satan and his minions etc etc. I can see the point, really I can. But...call me a woolly liberal if you like - and no doubt I'm being led astray by sundry folk I associate with ;) still... as I listened I found the words of the Louis Armstrong hit running through my head:

"I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world."

The proverbial serpent in the grass? No, I think not. More a case of the glass being half full. And nobody is more surprised than yours truly.
