To Tractor Girl and Jack for the 'go-for-its.' We'll see what this week brings on the seabird front - as by the weekend I should know a little more and had a chance to discuss it all at some length. Which of course, being me means that by the end the week I'll be wandering around trying to stuff my metaphorical entrails back in. Whilst fighting the urge to go back on the positive decisions I've made. Terribly Ignatian.

Meanwhile, back at Maison Miffy, Mr Miff is busy chopping his map de France up into loo roll sized sections and photocopying them so that we both have a guide to the route. Thus he can phone home from his perch atop hill or glen and give me a reference from which I can look up all the likely eateries etc in any given area. It's great to see the confidence my spouse has in my navigational abilities. He's clearly forgotten the little incident of the 'yellow road' way back in the 90's. (I still bear the mental scars!).

Even as I write Ms Miffy is engaged in the final few minutes of an e-bay bid for a certain musical instrument. Nail-biting stuff, and I don't now whether to wish her luck or breathe a sigh of relief if she gets it. (Mental note: Stock up on plenty of cotton wool).

Mstr Miff? Last day of school on Thursday. Cue daft antics, (a few years back some students were expelled before the exams for glueing up staff car locks; the traditional autographing of shirts or running bloomers up a flagpole is far safer). And then...STUDY LEAVE. Life is real. Life is earnest, as they say. Timetables are up on kitchen walls, and Mstr Miff has put in a request for lovely healthy breakfasts.

5 mins, 52 seconds to go. I'd best close and see what's going on...
