When I was on the way home from seeing the second curate and his wife I decided to follow a sign that we had decided last time was simply badly expressed, so I did. I realised I had gone wrong but figured I would end up somewhere I knew.
A great joy when driving (if you don't have to be somewhere urgently) is to drive by following instincts to get back to where you need to be. I usually find I can do it.
It did go wrong once when I dropped a friend off at Birmingham airport. I had no sense of where it was in relation to Birmingham as I hadn't looked at a map at all, this meant my instincts took me into the city centre. Oooops
