I thought I had made a spelling mistake when I wrote something on the board but couldn't work out how so ignored it. When I returned to my room at the end of the day to find a letter rubbed out I knew immediately who had done it.
"Fred, you've been correcting my spelling"
"How do you know it was me?" Fred replied.
"Easy, if it is the kids mucking around with the words they only rub out letters to make rude words."
It was Pontius Pilate by the way.
