I'm sceptical

If I happen to be in the car at around 4.45pm on Monday afternoons I hear an astrology section on Steve Wright in the afternoon - BBC radio 2.

Each week they get an astrologer in and take phonecalls from the public. The public usually want to know whether some life changing decision was the right one to make, or occasionally they are waiting to make a decision, seemingly based on what the astrologer says.

Apparently the man who is thinking about moving to New Zealand really should be an Aquarius as New Zealand in an aquarian country, and it could cause a problem if no-one in his family is one. However, having established that he has been out there and looked around the astrologer decided that it probably was the right thing to do.

A woman phoned up wondering if she had made the right decision in buying a house on the Orkney Islands to move to. "No, whatever you do, don't move to Orkney, it is the worst possible thing a Taurean could ever do, it is likely to bring about a huge shift in the worlds outer realms leading to unprecedented chaos and disaster - globally."*

I find the slot incredibly frustrating.

*That may not have been quite what he said, he might have said she had made a great decision. The people who phone in have mostly made great decisions.
