This is a time of getting ready. Christmas doesn't start until 25th December, and goes on until the 1st sunday in February with Candlemass.
I've been watching the music channels, who are starting to play the usual Christmas songs, and it was one of those that struck me. years ago, John Lennon and Yoko Ono sang "War is Over/If You Want it". Looking at what is happening in the world, and especially in the Middle East and Afghanistan, I have to say, whether people shared their hope for a peaceful world or not, it certainly hasn't happened.
These few weeks are stressful. What we need to do, somehow, is to step back. Even if you are not a Christian like me, you can still appreciate the occasion for its joy, for getting together with family and friends, for catching up and enjoying those friendships and relationships. They are worth their weight in gold. (I also love the glitter, sparkle and colour of the lights and dcecorations, for the simple reason that they are pretty! Sorry!)
