it is part of my job, running the after school homework club with the TAs, to make people do their homework when they don't want to. If they don't do it, they ultimately get sent to us. no one seems to understand that if you complete your homework, the teacher shouldn't have any else to shout at you for. Getting it done, to give yourself a break, would be a good idea, but our learners don't seem to grasp that yet. In a morning the computers in the LRC are very slow, and I do find this frustrating because I want to get people on computers who need them. At lunch because so many people came in a did nothing, we now have a booking system. Whether people like it or not, it has stopped those who just dossed (rather then reading or working) from coming in. if people want to come in, they must book with me, otherwise sling yer ook, as my grandad would say. I am very unpopular for many reasons at this school, but as my mum and several of my colleagues have said "We're here to help them, but we're not here to be their friend".
